Eight Reasons Christar Might be a Good Fit for You
1. Focus on the Least-Reached
Christar workers serve among the least-reached: those without access to a church that proclaims the gospel in their language and that worships in a way that’s relevant in their culture. We seek to establish churches among least-reached people, both in their home countries and in places where they reside as immigrants and refugees.

2. Goal of Establishing Reproducing Churches
Christar teams work not only to start churches but to establish multiplying fellowships of believers that have a lasting impact in their communities and beyond. We want these churches to thrive and reproduce long after our workers have gone.

3. Commitment to Prayer
We recognize that we can’t do the work to which God has called us without His enablement and wisdom. So, we commit ourselves to prayer and invite others to join us in bringing our ministry before the Lord. We do this through regular prayer times on our field teams and daily corporate prayer gatherings of Christar U.S. staff, as well as through requiring every Christar worker to build a team of at least 100 daily prayer partners.

4. Individualized Pre-Field Preparation
We’re committed to equipping new workers well so they are ready to face challenges on the field and prepared for thriving life and ministry in least-reached communities. This training isn’t a one-size-fits-all process. In addition to required pre-field conferences, we consider each person’s experience and desired area of service, and we use assessments to help us create his or her personal development plan. Throughout the process, Christar pre-field coaches come alongside individuals who are pursuing cross-cultural ministry, helping them grow continually in their faith and reach the field equipped for productive service.

5. Diversely Gifted Teams
Working in teams is a distinctive of Christar. Christar teams are small groups of believers who are committed to the goal of planting churches among the least-reached through an agreed-upon ministry plan, mutual care and accountability. Sometimes they include cross-cultural workers serving through other organizations, and often, they’re comprised of individuals from numerous backgrounds. In all cases, we seek to demonstrate the unity to which God calls us in the Body of Christ while benefiting from the diverse gifts and experiences of each team member.

6. A Tested Model for Establishing Churches
We’ve found that a number of key principles help Christar teams establish churches that last in least-reached communities. That’s why we train our workers in a model, known as Polaris, which helps church-planting teams create strategies that fit their ministry contexts. This structure provides a framework that equips teams to evaluate methods, principles and tactics and form an approach in light of the culture and worldview of the people they’re seeking to reach.
7. Value of Creativity
We value innovation in ministry and encourage our workers to initiate new and creative outreaches. From ballroom dancing to aquaculture, our workers use their unique talents and skills to build connections with least-reached people and bless the communities they’re seeking to reach with the gospel.

8. Investment In Member Care
Our Member Care team promotes the physical, emotional, mental, social and spiritual well-being of our workers and their children so they can thrive in ministry and relationships. Throughout workers’ service, this team comes alongside them with support and encouragement through promoting healthy soul care practices, debriefing those on home assignment and providing resources to meet workers’ needs on the field.
