Manarah
Practical, Experiential Muslim Outreach Training
Manarah trains mature Christians how to share the good news with Muslims. This immersive two-week experience in Islam, its people and cultures is held each summer among one of the largest concentrations of Muslims in North America.
The curriculum incorporates preparatory reading/viewing, 40 hours of in-class, interactive instruction and 20 hours of daily outreach to use what you learn. It combines relevant topics in class with application by seasoned workers, including opportunities for reflection and debriefing.
The instructors are happy to tailor the material to fit students’ desires to interact with Muslims from various ethnic groups, many least-reached.
Program Includes:
- Teaching sessions focused on Islamic theology and culture
- Free time in the late afternoons and evenings to meet and converse with Muslims
- Opportunities to assist with English as a second language classes
- Classes taught by Christar workers, each with significant field experience
Testimonials
"Manarah changed my perspectives on people of other faiths: They're people just like me. They have traditions and reasons for doing things the way they do. Learning about Muslim culture and theology was so beneficial, especially learning about the key gospel points to communicate. Manarah equipped me to share confidently and boldly!"
“Manarah is some of the best training you can get anywhere. You learn from those who have served years on the field, you connect with others who have a similar passion and you have everyday real-world opportunities for sharing the gospel. You learn by doing. Excellent training.”
"I realized that, while ministry to Muslims can feel like a challenging endeavor, the harvest is so plentiful and the workers so few. I witnessed how God is reaching Muslims, and it is never about me. I don't think I will ever forget the Muslim guys I met during Manarah. I would recommend this program to anyone who is considering Muslim ministry."
"Manarah was my favorite cross-cultural trip I've ever been on. We had the opportunity to both learn and practice what we were learning right away. It seemed like the Lord always guided us to people and conversations about what we had just learned in class that day!"
