Are you exploring the possibility of cross-cultural service among Hindus? Darshan, which means “vision” in Hindi, is an intensive training program that enables you to get a glimpse not only of Hindu beliefs and practices, but of the culture and worldview behind them.
This program pairs classroom sessions with interaction in South Asian communities, giving you a unique understanding of the Hindu mindset. You’ll learn from Christar workers who’ve spent years living and serving among Hindus in classes designed to help you understand and communicate the gospel to these least-reached people. You’ll get an overview of Hinduism’s complex belief system and gain an understanding of barriers that can prevent Hindus from embracing the gospel. And you’ll learn culturally appropriate and relevant ways to communicate the good news.
Then you’ll take what you’ve learned outside of the classroom as you’re immersed in a South Asian community and experience culture and hospitality. You’ll also worship with a fellowship of Hindu-background believers and have opportunities to practice sharing the gospel.
Darshan is divided into two one-week modules:*
Darshan 1: Understanding and Communicating with Hindus
Darshan 2: Advanced Communication with Hindus
Students are strongly encouraged to attend both modules. Darshan 1 is a prerequisite to Darshan 2. A third module, “Discipleship in Hindu Communities” is in development and will be available to those who’ve completed modules 1 and 2.
It’s our goal that you come away from Darshan equipped to love and share the gospel with Hindus. Join us!
